Scandinavian simplicity for a global glassware brand
Pentagon Design has been designing for NUDE since the brand was established. Our cooperation has included designing several series of drinking glasses, serving items, vases, containers, and luminaires.
Our mission has been to introduce Scandinavian simplicity to a global brand, creating outstanding yet minimalistic designs that are appealing to an international audience. Our approach is to reinterpret traditional glassware as modern designs that elevate the user experience.
Challenge
NUDE prides itself in its artisanal approach to glassware, specialising in handmade, pure crystalline glass — whether blown, pressed, or press-blown. The idea of simplicity is the guiding principle. NUDE believes that Less is More and that Form is best when it meets Function.
Our goal has been to introduce Scandinavian simplicity to a global brand and create unique new designs for an international audience. How to stand out in the competition with minimalistic designs on a very saturated market?
Approach
Our work is based on a traditional creative process of reinterpreting traditional handmade glass as new conteporary designs. The inspiration stems from the everyday needs of users. The aesthetics combine Finnish design heritage with contemporary appereance.
Result
Since the brand’s establishment, Pentagon Design has contributed to NUDE’s product range with an extensive selection of glassware — from serving items to vases and containers to luminaires.
Smooth
- The Red Dot awarded Smooth luminaire is designed to be comforting and minimal. The main shade is made of opaque glass, with a sharp contrast to the slate stone base.
Contour
- Contour Collection consists of several items from bowls and vases to carafes and glasses, all sharing a common contour line giving the collection its’ distinct look.
Blade
- Blade vases are all about functionality – practical everyday items celebrating the natural refinement of colored crystal glass.
